About
RL Sachs Text is a typeface designed for the setting of long passages of copy at text sizes. It grows out of the same ideas as RL Sachs Display, sharing its sharp appearance, underlying structure and logic, drawing approach, and modern typographic model. Rather than simply adapting the display design for smaller sizes, RL Sachs Text develops these ideas into a distinct voice of its own.

The forms become more resilient, with strong triangular serifs, moderate contrast, and simplified terminals cut horizontally. Selected letterforms and details are redrawn, while spacing and proportions are adjusted to create a more cohesive and comfortable reading texture.

The stems are slightly tapered, adding stability at small sizes while softening the otherwise rigid character of the design. Together, these changes produce a stronger, more even texture that remains clear and distinctive in continuous text.

THERE ARE MANY types of microscopes, and they may be grouped in diffrent ways.
One way is to describe the method an instrument uses to interact with a sample and produce images.

The microscope grew out of medieval “reading stones” and spectacles, but its real breakthrough came around 1590 in the Netherlands, when eyeglass makers Hans and Zacharias Janssen placed multiple lenses in a tube and saw objects appear greatly enlarged.

Reading aids began long before framed spectacles: in the 11th century, plano‑convex “reading stones” of polished crystal or glass were laid on manuscripts to enlarge text, especially in the Arab world and later in European monasteries. By the late 1200s, Italian craftsmen in Pisa and Venice produced the first true spectacles to help with presbyopia, the age‑related loss of near focus. Early frames had no temples; they were simply pinched or tied, and lenses were cut from quartz or glass.

The familiar combonation
of Ctrl+Plus/Ctrl+Minus zoom shortcuts emerged with graphical user interfaces and web browsers as a fast, keyboard‑friendly way to change magnification without losing page layout. By the mid‑2000s, major browsers standardized Ctrl+Plus to zoom in, Ctrl+Minus to zoom out, and Ctrl+0 to reset. On macOS the same behavior uses Command instead of Ctrl, and many design  apps adopted similar conventions.

The blinking vertical bar that shows where your next character will appear, was invented to solve a basic problem in early text editors: how to indicate the insertion point on a screen with no physical “current line”

In the 1950s and 1960s, engineers such as Charles Kiesling worked on interactive typing interfaces, and in 1967 Kiesling filed a patent for a blinking cursor solution. The idea became widely visible with personal computers like the Apple II (1977) and early word processors such as WordStar (1978), where a blinking caret made it obvious where typing, deleting, or navigating would take effect. Over time the caret evolved into a family of text cursors (I‑beam for pointing, block cursors in terminals, and dual carets for selection), but its core role remains the same: a simple, universal signal of “you are here” in digital text.
